This book contains new, simple, rapid, sensitive, and specific chemical methodology to replace more complicated and less effective microbiological methodology for determining antibiotic residues in agricultural food products. Within each of the seven major categories of antibiotics used in agriculture, it discusses recent developments in chemical analysis of the particular antibiotics and the desirable and undesirable properties of these compounds with respect to methods development, the choice detection system for antibiotics without a chromophore, and the limitations of the methods described.
